Rachael Sanchez

Rachael recently moved to McKinney from Van Alstyne with her husband and fellow runner Kevin Newton. Rachael has a background as a competitive road cyclist when she resided in Virginia in her late teens and early 20s. Her move to Texas brought a good job opportunity and the desire to run as a new activity. In the later part of 2016 she competed in her first marathon after doing a few half marathons. Rachael met her husband through the Frisco Running Company Store on an evening social run, and such, running means a lot to her. Rachael is preparing to make an attempt or two in an effort to make the Olympic Trials Marathon qualifying time.  Along the way she will race the Grandma’s and Chicago marathons with more races to be determined. She is proud to be a member of the Texas Iron Distance Project as she enjoys the compradore of her teammates, and the greater running community.

Rachael is currently being coached by Shawna Zaharko and credits working with Ms. Shawna for her ability to handle more mileage and exploring new running paces as they prepare for 2019.
